Brexit and Pet Passport/Travel

After the 30th March 2019 it is almost certain that there will be changes to the Pet passport scheme, whether we reach a deal or not.

What has been suggested is that all cats and dogs, whether they have had a rabies vaccination previously or not, will need a blood test to check antibody levels to the vaccine. This can be done at any time, provided the rabies vaccination is up to date, or a month after vaccination if done for the first time or has lapsed. There will be a period of three months after the blood test before travel is allowed.

This means you will need to allow 3-4 months before travelling. You may need a health certificate before leaving the UK.

We expect to get confirmation of the new deal by the end of November but if you are planning to travel around the end of March you might want to think about getting a blood test just in case.
